Biography
James Wilk was born and raised in Colorado. He received a B.A in Chemistry and in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He then received an M.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver and currently works in private practice at Rose Medical Center in Denver, specializing in internal medicine and medical disorders complicating pregnancy. In addition, he is active in teaching medical students and holds an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at his alma mater. Dr. Wilk serves as a moderator for The Critical Poet online poetry workshop and his poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in The Aurorean, The Blue Unicorn, Main Channel Voices, The Barefoot Muse, Measure, The Lyric, The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine, The Pharos, Contemporary Sonnet and elsewhere. In 2007, one of his poems was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. His chapbook, Shoulders, Fibs, and Lies, will be published in 2008 by Pudding House.
