Biography

Michael J. Henry, MFA is Executive Director of Lighthouse, where he also teaches memoir, essay, and poetry workshops. In addition, he teaches nonfiction writing at University of Denver. A recent recipient of a Colorado Council on the Arts Fellowship, his work has appeared in such places as Threepenny Review, 5280, Many Mountains Moving, Georgetown Review, and Bloomsbury Review.

He's currently finishing a memoir, Down From Buffalo, and is working on a poetry manuscript, tentatively entitled Whisper, In a Dark Suit. Michael grew up in Buffalo, New York, received a BA in English from University of Rochester, and an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. In 1997, he co-founded Lighthouse with his wife, Andrea Dupree; together they're at work on a book about creating community in writing workshops.
